Melekeok Head Start Program

On [December 9, 2013] the Melekeok Head Start Program, consisting of students from Melekeok, Ngchesar, and Ngiwal, got in for a big surprise as NDBP, represented by one of its Board member, Ms. Appolonia Ngirchechol, and its President, Ms. Sandra Mincer, visited the school and gave out Christmas gifts. The program's teachers, parents, and children all welcomed the donation with high spirits. The holiday gesture by the Bank is part of its outreach program in helping the general public.

Mincer appointed President & CEO of NDBP

Ms. Mincer was appointed President/CEO of the bank on August 13, 2012. She is the first Palauan woman to hold the position of President. She graduated class Valedictorian from Palau Mission Academy in 1980 and holds a double degree, Bachelor of Arts for Business & Economics with a specialization in Business Administration. She is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, Certified Examination Manager and Certified Public Manager, a three year program, through the State of Nevada. Ms. Mincer has over 25 years experience in the financial industry, with her last position at the State of Nevada as the Acting Deputy Commissioner of Financial Institutions.

 

NDBP Signs a Memorandum of Understanding to Extend the RETRO-Energy Efficiency Subsidy Program (RETRO- EESP)

[August 24, 2012] On Thursday August 23, 2012 at the NDBP conference room in Ngetkib Airai State, the National Development Bank of Palau, represented by their new President and CEO, Sandra D. Mincer and Palau Housing Authority represented by their Executive Director, Frida Delmau, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to extend the RETRO-Energy Efficiency Subsidy Program (RETRO- EESP) to include the Palau Housing Authority customers in the program. This important event was witnessed by the NDBP board of directors, Carol Ngiraidis and Apolonia Ngirchechol.

NDBP Management And Staff Receive Certification

[January 12, 2011] Four (4) National Development Bank of Palau staff received professional certifications from ADFIAP's Asia Pacific Institute of Development Finance (IDF) in Manila at the end of 2010. Bank President Udui, and Commercial Loan Officer Fletcher were granted Affiliate Certifications and Special Asset Manager Francisco and Commercial Loan Analyst were granted Associate Certifications. Other Pacific Islands represented included the Cook Islands, FSM, and Samoa.

Certifications are for the programs of Core Development Banking and Development Bank Management. These programs are part of the ADFIAP Career Credentialing Program intended to accredit and recognize professional competence in development Banking. ADFIAP is an Asian Pacific group of development financiers.

 

NDBP Installs Solar Panels and Conducts Training

[October 7, 2010] The National Development Bank has installed forty solar panels on the roof of the bank to demonstrate their commitment to Renewable Energy Technology. The solar power installation will also serve as a “demonstration site” for the general community.

The installation was made by Waterfront Villa, one of twenty two persons who participated in installation training a week earlier. 10 panels were installed on the roof of the SBDC facility in front of the Bank as part of a training program on how to install this equipment. The training was conducted by NDBP consultant Dr. Herbert Wade.

  • The National Development Bank of Palau has finalized its new 5-year Strategic Plan. The plan approved by the Board of Directors calls for an aggressive growth strategy to increase the Bank's size from the present $30 million in Total Assets to $100 million in Total Assets at the end of 10-years.   • Training for the installation of solar energy equipment as part of the NDBP's Energy Loan Program took place in Palau during the dates of September 21 to September 29 at the PCC CE Training Center. [October 7, 2010]
  • The Palau Public Utilities Corporation (PPUC) and the National Development Bank of Palau (NDBP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on both residential and commercial facilities as part of a subsidized loan program.   • NDBP Board of Directors to consider Energy Loan Program in April Meeting. New consultancy for project secured to ensure successful program. Planned launch is for June 2010 under pilot phase.
  • President and Vice Chairman to receive Award in May 2010 Association Meeting.
  • NDBP Officially opened its doors at its new Building in Ngetkib Village, Airai State. This marks the first time the Bank has owned its own building. [November 16, 2009]
